FileZilla Server stops randomly logging

Hello,

We have this issue with FileZilla Server where it randomly stops logging. It has happened over last year or so and with pretty much all the FileZilla Server 1-series versions, and it also happens with the latest version 1.8.1. It happens with both of our servers which have FileZilla Server installed so we cannot really pinpoint any reason what is causing that or is that simply some random bug in FileZilla Server.

Over the years we have tried deleting / recreating the logging folders, changing the log file names and settings how FileZilla logs (like rotating daily or not etc.) and it always starts logging normally after restarting everything but sooner or later it fails at somepoint, for some days at least.

Windows Defender is the AV and it doesnt list that its blocking anything. Also as you can see in the screenshots, it can continue logging by itself even after some days (i.e. without restarting the servers or FileZilla) so I really cannot find any logic why it breaks randomly. And there's FTP traffic every day (at least every hour) so it cant be even lack of traffic.

Any ideas what could cause that?

Thanks for reaching out, there's indeed a bug in the rotation mechanism. What you are seeing as the log "stopping" is actually the log deleting the most recent files when rotating, rather than the oldest ones.

Will be fixed in a next release, or in the next nightly build already.

Thanks! Just for clarification, was it fixed in 1.8.2 since that was released about same time as you commented, or will it be the next release after 1.8.2?
