How can I make a proper upload directory?

#1 Post by Erwin » 2004-12-19 21:19

I have tried many free Windows FTP servers, but they all lack something fundamental. Now it's FileZilla's turn :) I have the virtual directories figured out, which is nice... but I found I still can't have a decent upload directory.

That is, the directory itself should be visible, but the contents must be invisible, so people can not see what they (or others) have uploaded.

When I remove the 'list' permission, the directory itself becomes invisible, so that is not good. Did I miss something, or is this just not implemented (yet)? If not, I'd like to request a 'list' item under Files.

with using ":u" you can create an upload folder for each users. Users wont be able to see what others have uploaded.

But I want to have an anonymous upload directory. This is common in any unix FTP server.

Directories wich cannot be listed will confuse some ftp clients. Thus in order for the directory to appear in any listing it has to be listable itself.
