how to make FTP work

i have a website hosted on hostgator.How to make its FTP work?via opencart or via hosting?
P.S it is an e-commerce store on opencart platform

FTP is an independent service from webhosting. If your hoster offers FTP access you should have the FTP access information already.

Hostgator should have the all the information you need to log in over FTP.

I am trying to incorporate FileZilla with my site account to upload the material, but i am not able to find a proper way. Kindly tell me how to do this.
