Re: 530 Login incorrect error
I'm getting exactly the same error using FZ 3.8.1 on Win 7 64-bit.
I know all my credentials, including password, are 100% correct. I have checked and tried them dozens of times.
I have even tried changing the password on my hosting company's website but I still get the same 530 login error.
I've tried following the FZ Wiki FAQ about making an active FTP connection (as far as I understand it; "Setting up FileZilla Client: Active Mode") but it makes no difference.
I have tried the Network Configuration Wizard using several different configurations but it always fails.
I don't know what else to do...

Re: 530 Login incorrect error
Which one did you change? Note the host website login and FTP login are independent and the login data not the same. Also note the username might, in addition to the password, be case sensitive.I have even tried changing the password on my hosting company's website but I still get the same 530 login error.

Re: 530 Login incorrect error
Vielen Dank.
I changed both the hosting company website login password *and* the control panel login for the same website.
My old FTP password was *exactly* the same as both these two passwords.
Now both above passwords are changed, the FTP password should have changed with them too and it should be exactly the same.
But I am still getting the same error. I am taking account of case-sensitivity...
Any further thoughts, thanks

Re: 530 Login incorrect error
That’s an easy answer, I suppose, but it’s not necessarily so. I have been having the same problem and it’s rather vexing. I would be the first to admit that I’m new to this whole ‘website administration’ thing and have not much of an idea of what I’m doing.boco wrote:The server disagrees. I use two different programs to run my website: 1) Filezilla and 2) Yahoo sitebuilder. I know a bunch of you probably just groaned but I really don’t care. Sitebuilder has worked nearly flawlessly for me and I have never had a problem logging in with my ID/password info. It’s hard for me to believe that a server which accepts that information flawlessly from one program is the fault for the rejection in the other program.
Filezilla always logs in initially just fine. I will start to upload what admittedly is a grunch of files. In the middle of this upload I will get something like the following error messages:
Error: Connection closed by server.
Error: File transfer failed.
Filezilla will then ask for my password even though it’s supposed to have been saved for the duration of the session. I will enter my password and will then get the 530 error, telling me my authentication information is invalid. It is not.
Filezilla then (naturally) asks for my password again. I can paste my password in, so that I know it’s exactly the same, ten or twenty times and it doesn’t take. If I wait ten minutes and paste it in again, sometimes it works and sometimes not but it always works eventually with the exact same password I pasted in before.
I have never had a log in problem with Sitebuilder. What should be a ten or twenty minute upload can take all afternoon. It’s very frustrating.
With all of that being said, maybe it is a problem with the server but I doubt it. Maybe it’s a problem with Filezilla – the recent upgrade didn’t make any difference. Maybe it’s a problem with my computer or the setup. I just don’t know.
Any help would be appreciated.
Re: 530 Login incorrect error
No, neither of these passwords do have anything to do with FTP. There might be an extra FTP section where you can change the credentials.I changed both the hosting company website login password *and* the control panel login for the same website.

No, there isn't. The hosting company's FTP documentation explicitly states that the FTP password is exactly the same as your website login password...
Re: 530 Login incorrect error
Different problem. Your problems are temporary, probably caused by too many connections open to the server. I cannot speak for the other tool, but it probably uses one connection while FileZilla uses many. Usually old connections are closed before new ones are opened, but unfortunately many security programs interfere and the connections stay open/half-open. Once the server's threshold is reached you are denied opening any more. Waiting helps because even stalled connections timeout after some time.Error: Connection closed by server.
Error: File transfer failed.
Filezilla will then ask for my password even though it’s supposed to have been saved for the duration of the session. I will enter my password and will then get the 530 error, telling me my authentication information is invalid. It is not.

Re: 530 Login incorrect error
But they don't state how fast these will be synced? Website login and FTP are two separate services, using separate software. Immediate sync is rare because it is resource intensive.limey75 wrote:boco wrote:. There might be an extra FTP section where you can change the credentials.

It's kind of a dilemma for us: We cannot help if the server does not accept what you send, as it's their server being in denial. There are generally two different possibilities:
1. Syntax. Mis-typing is only one form of syntax error, there are more: Using incorrect case, Copy-Paste errors like leading or trailing blanks, funny characters.
2. Entered information is corrupted in-transport. Usually that is fault of a proxy, firewall etc. Happens more frequently using passwords that make heavy use of unusual characters. A prominent example is the @-sign that caused quite a lot of grey (or missing) hair. Using FTP over TLS or SFTP does work around that issue by locking third-party utilities out.
