By getting faster upload speed from the ISP?

If you transfer many small files, getting an internet connection with as little latency as possible also helps.

Step 1
Download and install the FileZilla FTP client from their website at https://filezilla-project.org/.

Step 2
At the top left of the application, go to File > Site Manager. In site manager you are going to setup a new connection with the host your are connecting with.

Step 3
Go over to the “Transfer Settings” tab and select Limit Simultaneous connections. Then input 10 for the Maximum Number of Connections. This will optimize your connection speeds with most servers to get the highest download speeds; and without them disconnecting. (My download speeds jumped from 900KB down to 2500KB down just from changing this one option.

As soon as everybody does that, the result will be that you'll have less than 900. Bandwidth is shared. If the server is overloaded, you using more connection is effectively stealing bandwidth from other users.

Not to mention that many servers do not even allow it.

Hi,

I now it's an old post but I don't want to open a new threat.

My ISP geving me and upload speed of 10Mbps where 9.5Mbps efective!

My highest upload speed with FileZilla is 1.2MiB/s is this normal?

Nibbles and chomps. Or cents and dollars. Or square-feet and gallons per inch times the density of whatever was used to define a gallon.

I use this method and it's faster than before.
  • Run FileZilla and got to “Edit” tab in the top left corner
  • In “Edit” drop down menu choose “Settings” option
  • "Settings” window will open and you need to choose “Transfers” from the list on the left side
  • Under “Concurrent Transfer”, you will see the first option to change Maximum Simultaneous Transfers with the default of just 2.
Here you can modify it to 10 simultaneous downloads to let FileZilla transfer 10 files all at once
Try this setting and you will see 10 files being queued at once
