Generate http link for selected File
Hello everybody,
The files on my ftp server are accessible from anonymous http server too.
Is there a way to easily generate the corresponding http link from the selected file/directory in FileZilla ?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Generate http link for selected File
You can use your keyboard to change the URL.
Re: Generate http link for selected File
Is your answer a joke ?
Perhaps you haven't understood the interest of my question...
Imagine this scenario:
I put files on ftp abcdxyze.com with FileZilla using userid and password
All the files on this server are accessible without authentification via this http address : http://abcdxyze.com/[userid]/...
So it would be great if in FileZilla configuration if it could be possible to associate a base HTTP address and the result would be at right click on a file on ftp and in contextual menu, we can imagine an item like "copy http://abc.xyz.com/... (autogenerated URL)
No one has this need ?

This would only work for the most basic of setups. A solution working for everyone requires a scripting language integrated into FileZilla.

Re: Generate http link for selected File
I signed up just for this.
Why would this not be possible!? I believe to remember that this existed in an older version?
I even found an old ticket that says it would be implemented: https://trac.filezilla-project.org/ticket/2591
"This would only work for the most basic of setups." -> What's the logic here? If it only works for most but not all people, we shouldn't do it?
So many other FTP tools have this funtionality.
In FireFTP i could just press a shortcut and i had my URL in clipboard. No tidious editing of ftp links. This even worked for several files at once. Extremely handy.
So please, please, to anyone who has to power to implement this, please make this option available!

Re: Generate http link for selected File
The ticket comments changed the subject to implementing a simple FTP URL. And that has been implemented.I even found an old ticket that says it would be implemented: https://trac.filezilla-project.org/ticket/2591
This. Features with low reliability will not be implemented. Needs to work reliably for at least most users (best for everyone). If it only works for most but not all people, we shouldn't do it?
No support requests over PM! You will NOT get any reply!!!

Re: Generate http link for selected File
Hi Tim,
I would like to see this feature, too.
I have to copy lots of ftp links and it would be great to have this feature.
I know this question appears many times in the last years and I can understand your reason above not to implement this feature.
In fireftp it was very easy (just a right click) to generate a http link to the file.
So if it was working in just a browser plugin, there must be a way to implement it into filezilla.
Maybe this solution is not working for all users, but it would be a nice additon for many others...
Thanks
Matthias

Re: Generate http link for selected File
Why not add this as a second option. I mean if there are quite some users in need for this. Usage could be very simple, preset the base url in site settings. Than in the right click menu perhaps below FTP url comes WWW url.
I see answers here which sound like a lack listening to users.

Hi Tim,
thanks for your great software.
It seems that you have a problem implementing a copy url option in filezilla.
Many users in this forum ask for this. As you write it will not work for all cases. But I think it will help many users out there.
I really don't want to leave filezilla, but editing every url stops my workflow everyday.
I had this feature in fireFTP a few years ago and I miss it
Thanks
Matthias

Hi Tim,
after many years with filezilla, I have to go
Found WinSCP with the "copy http url" option. This is what I need in my workflow.
Thanks
