Suggestion: Copy the HTTP/S address to the clipboard

#1 Post by mertskaplan » 2016-03-06 10:17

Hi,

FileZilla have a link to copy of FTP link to clipboard on right click menu for files. However, I need to the HTTP/S address of the files. We can not take this address when we specify a domain name or IP address for root.

This would be very useful for me.

Thanks.

Unfortunately there is no general relationship between FTP URLs and HTTP(S) URLs.

Thats right. I would like to have this functionality too, because it would save a lot of time.

A working solution might be to set a http(s) prefix in the servermanager for each configured server. So filezilla would be able to replace the ftp-part with the http-prefix.

For example a configured http-prefix of:

http://www.example.com/

and a ftp-path on the server of:

/httpdocs/folder/file.jpg

will create a http link to: http://www.example.com/httpdocs/folder/file.jpg

When the default folder is configured as:

/httpdocs/

the created link should be without the default folder:

http://www.example.com/folder/file.jpg

Or even better to define a base folder for the http links independent from default folder. So if one of the options "http-prefix" or "base folder for http links" is set, the context menu could "guess" the right http link to the file and copy it to clipboard.

Again, i think that would save a lot of time for some users and of course for me too.

Thanks
Andreas

I like the solution form Andreas above.
That was the way fireFTP did it.
Worked fine for me and would be a great addition to filezilla.
Thanks
Matthias
