How to disconnect Ideal Users

#1 Post by ah_esk » 2018-01-17 14:21

Hello,
I have a few users on my FTP server. They connect to my server and do not log off for a long time.

Sometimes I want to restart my server for the maintenance I have to wait for them for many days and hope they will log off or be up late during Saturday nights.

I am wondering if there is a way to find out if an account is idea
OR
Disconnect an account if it will be ideal after for example five minutes.

Thank you in Advance

What's wrong with ideal users? Aren't ideal users a thing to strife for?

I realise you are probably trolling so I thought I'd play a long.

It's "strive for" and he means Idle users (I hope)

Support is boring, so forgive us the humor (contrary to popular belief, we have humor, too).

Simple answer: Set timeout settings.

Connection timeout is reset by any user activity. Some clients employ connection keepalive, so you should use the next setting.

Transfer timeout is only reset by actual transfers. So if a user doesn't transfer anything for the number of seconds (s)he is disconnected. It is recommended to use this setting in favor to the one above.

Login timeout will disconnect idle users who fail to complete the login process. Recommended.
