Feature Suggestion – Column selection for “File Version”

#1 Post by martin F » 2019-04-15 16:09

As part of the available "Column selection" options, “File Version” would be a great addition. We use file versioning exclusively when distributing files on our FTP site. Most of the time it’s easier to just transfer a new file and overwrite an existing file on FTP rather then to transfer the file back to your host to check the file version to see if it’s the correct one.

FTP has no concept of file versions. Some antique IBM mainframes have extensions for versioning, but they are highly problematic, only causing bugs.

Hi, Tim. Thnx for the prompt reply. File versioning is a part of a file's attribute/property. So you're saying that the FZ client/gui cannot read this?

We are saying that the FTP protocol itself does not support it. The proprietary extensions of old IBM MF are not officially part of the FTP protocol and are problematic. For that reasons, they are not supported.
No support requests over PM! You will NOT get any reply!!!
