How transfer files between 2 PCs connected via Ethernet cable ?

#1 Post by Rosssiiii » 2019-03-22 14:04

Hello :)
I would like to know how is possible transfer files between 2 PCs connected via Ethernet cable ?

I have installed filezilla server on my main computer Windows and i'm able to transfer file tru wifi...but since my wifi is 2.4ghz the transfer of very large files is very slow, so I was looking for a way to do it by directly connecting my 2 PCs via ethernet cable using gigabit cable supported by both.

How i have to configure filezilla ?

Just enter the IP address assigned to the wired network adapter of the server.

i try to explain that video:

when i plugin the ethernet cable and i connect both devices...both computer still continue to use WIFI connection, in that way they don't transfer file using ethernet at more hight speed.

On the server look up the IP address assigned to the wired ethernet adapter, unless you have manually changed, it the IPv6 should be in the fe80::/32 range. Enter the address in the host field of FileZilla, enclosed in square bracket as it's a literal IPv6.

You enclose it in square brackets and enter it as Hostname.

Example:

Code: Select all

[fe80::297e:1cc7:4b6f:24e6%9]

No, you enter that IPv6 into the "Host:" field in FileZilla Client. Either into the Quickconnect bar on the top, or into the "Host:" field in the Site Manager.

No need to touch the server side, it has that IPv6 already assigned and FileZilla Server uses it automatically.

Please note that you can also use the 169.254.36.230 IPv4 to connect.
