Losing ping when transferring a file from File Zilla FTP Server to client (using IPv6)

#1 Post by KurtArapa » 2019-05-28 11:09

Hi all,

I am doing a project for school. I have done a visualized setup on GNS3 using the 6to4 mechanisms (using four Cisco 7200 images). Basically IPv6 is routed to IPv4 and then back routed tp IPv6. Basically at one end I have an FTP Server and at the other end a client, both with IPv6 addresses. The FTP transfer works but it's very slow. I have noticed that during the transfer I am losing some pings from the VMs. After the FTP is done 0 no pings will be lost. I have done a similar setup using IPv4 but this issue is not happening. I am losing pings while downloading/uploading the file from the FileZilla FTP Server only. Can this be an issue with filezilla since I am using IPv6 addresses?

Images of setup attached.

Please help.

*1030::2 is the FileZilla FTP Client
*1040::2 is the FileZilla FTP Server
All firewalls were disabled on the Windows Server and Windows 10 machines. No access-list on the routers were configured.

Please help. Thanks

Looks like at least one link is saturated. Due to congestion packets can be dropped, which includies ping packets.

Figure out which link is congested and increase its capacity.
