cannot connect to a certain sever
to begin with the last know time i could connect to this server was June 5, 2019 at 23:43. I can no longer connect to this particular server anymore.
I have tried Filezilla and WinSCP on (2) Windows 10 desktop computers and (1) Windows 10 laptop not one of them would connect always the same issue that i have been having. I would connect on my iMac on Port 21 did not try 990 (kinda scared to since its the only computer that will connect. I have reinstalled filezilla. I uninstalled McAfee and tried with no antivirus. Reinstalled everything and still nothing. I was able to connect threw internet explorer i believe, because I am able to click threw the directory which makes me assume it has connected, but File Explorer will not open up.
I have 2 other servers I have no problem connecting with all computers with FIlezilla. Its just that one server that is a "1and1-data.host".
Like I said in the beginning it was working on June 5, 2019.
THank you

Re: cannot connect to a certain sever
There's simply no working FTP server on the IPv6 address the hostname resolves to. Please contact your server administrator or server hosting provider for assistance so that the server can be fixed.

Thank you. I will give that a try. I am not trying to be a wiseguy, just educated. How do you know "There's simply no working FTP server on the IPv6 address the hostname resolves to? Thank you again. I will let you know if this works.

Re: cannot connect to a certain sever
I too am having a similar problem. I've had no problem connecting on a regular basis but suddenly I get the following. Not sure if it's something happening at our hosting company or something gone wrong here. We've recently just changed internet providers (not hosting company) but I don't know if that could affect it in any way.
Status: Resolving address of www............com
Status: Connecting to 166.62.28.88:21...
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Response: 220---------- Welcome to Pure-FTPd [privsep] [TLS] ----------
Response: 220-You are user number 7 of 500 allowed.
Response: 220-Local time is now 21:47. Server port: 21.
Response: 220-This is a private system - No anonymous login
Response: 220 You will be disconnected after 15 minutes of inactivity.
Command: AUTH TLS
Error: Connection timed out after 20 seconds of inactivity
Error: Could not connect to server

I was also facing the same issue. Reported to the hosting provider and was fixed.

Re: cannot connect to a certain sever
Hosting company was not going to budge at all to help fix the problem, so I had to solve the problem by disabling Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6). My next mystery now is what installed and enable IPv6. Had to be a What cause I am the only person who has access to the computers. Something installed it for a reason. THanks for all the help.
Re: cannot connect to a certain sever
Which OS? Windows? IPv6 is included and enabled by default since Vista (2007). There is no need to install it, and things break if you disable it.
IPv6 is slowly replacing the aging IPv4, the hosting company should get their act together and fix problems by going forward, not by going back.
