LOST IN FZ Server

#1 Post by hcsvespa7 » 2019-12-31 20:49

I need some Help Please!

FileZilla Server configuration is my problem.
My Filezilla login name is hcsvespa7
+++++
All of this is on W10 Professional computer on W10 iteration 1909
Background----I got a computer technician to setup a connection to a computer in my local city and I watched him do it, but was stupid not to video what he did in front of my eyes. I am a bit new to my smart phone!

What I saw him do was setup FileZilla server on this city computer, fiddle with the settings and then login to the router/modem and do some port forwarding. I then had my laptop setup on a SIM card close by and low and behold it all worked from the client side as well. I am even able to setup other client-side computers to access this city computer using Filezilla via FTPS with the appropriate certificate in the mix.
1) I want to be able to access my own data drive on my home machine from my laptop when travelling about.
2) I have put a fixed IP address on my home computer as 192.168.1.200
3) I have a fixed IP address from my ISP as 121.99.169.8
4) But neither of these IPs will allow FZS to connect and be stable on port 14147
5) However, 127.0.0.1 on port 14147 does logon and is stable.
6) In the W10 firewall settings FTP has 2 ticks in both boxes but the boxes themselves are “grey”, whereas all the others are white where ticks are done?
7) In Turn on W10 features via Control Panel I have
8) Turned on FTP extensibility
9) Tuned on FTP Service
10) Turned on llS management consul
11) All according to this URL https://www.windowscentral.com/how-set- ... windows-10
12) I did not turn on any of the other FTP features offered to try to keep to the rules as in 11) just above.
Not sure if I can cut and paste this but trying here.

13) Cut and posting worked and as you can see only the 127.0.0.1 login works?
14) Trying my fixed local PC IP does not and
15) My WAN does not work either.
16) My only guess it that is it something to do with 6) above being grey, but I don’t see any other configuration options to try.
I am stumped from here.
Maybe its my 78 years creeping up on me!

Kind regards Henry

If you want to remotely administrate FileZilla Server you first need to enable it on the administration page in the settings dialog of FileZilla Server while connected locally.

No botg, I simply want to make it work locally so I can login with my laptop from outside my local network, over the internet.

That is using the settings.

Certificate generated here.

Sorry I can't work out how to send img files to you. I can do .jpeg,.png,and pdf as files to load up here. Henry

Port 14147 is the default administration port of FileZilla Server, only usable through FileZilla Server's administration interface.

To access your files shared through FileZilla Server you need an FTP client, such as FileZilla (Client) and connect to the server's assigned FTP port, 21 by default.
