Little differences vs. CuteFTP

#1 Post by hotwired » 2019-12-24 12:57

I've been using Cute FTP for around 20 years and finally had to throw in the towel and swtich to FileZilla. I like it OK. But there's a couple of bugs I'd like to iron out:

1. In the local or remote windows, nothing happens when I hit a letter key. Like I'm looking for index.html and if I'm focused on the local window, and hit "i" key, it will go right to the first file that has an "i" in it. NOT being able to do this is like...1980's technology. I feel like it "just cannot be true".

2. SOME files automatically prompt for an upload when I edit them, others don't. I edit index.html and go back to filezilla and a box comes up prompting. I like this. It saves one step. But then I edit about.html or ANY .css file and it doesn't do this.

3. SUPER time consuming. I cannot copy from another folder and paste into the local or remote window. I used to do this constantly with CuteFTP. Grab a template file from a folder on my computer and paste it into the local window, and boom. I'm done. Now i have to have two windows explorer windows open and navigate between the two, THEN go back to FZ and upload. This again strikes me as very 1980's technology issue. It's related to issue #1 in that it seems like the remote and local "windows" are "dead" so to speak.

Thanks for any time saving hints you can give, and Merry Christmas everyone!!

Prefix search is working just fine here.

If you don't get a prompt after changing a file it has not been opened for editing.

You can use drag&drop to transfer.

Working fine here as well. Make sure it is actually a single line of text you are attempting to paste.

Based on your symptoms it appears you have faulty third-party software on your machine that interferes with the normal working of other programs.
