Filezilla Queue - Downloading faster that Queus

#1 Post by ccandg » 2020-02-21 16:49

Hello,

I'm having a weird issue with Filezilla. I'm trying to download a WordPress site to my local machine, but when I select all of the files on the server and drag them over, it seems like the files are downloading faster than they are added to the queue. (i.e. it's not adding all of the files to the queue). Therefore, eventually the queue is empty, and it only downloads one....file... at...a... time.

I have it set to Passive mode and set the number of downloads to 5 simultaneous transfers. This is extremely frustrating, but it just started happening.

Please let me know if it's a FileZilla setting or server setting.

What happens if you add them to the queue and only then start the transfer once all have been added?

It will work, but it still take forever. Which is the issue. It's constantly retrieving the directory listing for every.. single.. file... And I typically use it for WordPress sites, so there are thousands of files. This all started happening recently after we installed a firewall at our office and one on our server.

If there a way to set it so that it grab all of the files into the queue like it used to? Please let me know if you need any more clarification.

The solution would be to remove the faulty firewall.

That's not really helpful. Could you give me more insight? It's allowing me to connect, but it's just not allowing me to fill the queue and then process it. It use to work fine (even after we installed the firewall), but then I changed the amount of simultaneous downloads threads, and it's all wonky.

It's not really possible to remove the firewall... Are there any specific settings that should be applied to the firewall to prevent the latency issue?

That's a question for your firewall vendor.

This is all very frustrating for me. I talk to my firewall guys, and they tell me to get more information from Filezilla support, then I talk to you and you tell me to get more information from the firewall IT? It's a round and round with nothing actually getting accomplished. Have you ever experienced this issue before, and if so, what settings (in Filezilla) should I set (or reset) them to in order to begin troubleshooting?

Yes, we've seen this many times. It usually goes like this: Things are working fine. Changes are made that break things, such as installing a firewall. User complains. User is given advice to undo the changes. Advice is ignored, user keeps complaining.

Wow. Thanks, for nothing. You're advice is to remove the firewall... which is not possible. This is all a bit over my head and I was looking for some insight or direction to get this fixed. Both you and my firewall support are blaming each other for the issue. So it's difficult for me to understand where to start. Sorry if it seemed like I'm complaining. I'm just not getting any actual answers from anyone. You say turn off firewall, the firewall people say reintall Filezilla... but neither of those pieces of "advice" actually fix the issue.
