Using Chrome with FileZilla Server

#1 Post by Docfxit » 2020-04-27 19:20

I have a FileZilla server 0.9.60beta installed in Windows 7 64bit.
This link works in Firefox
ftp://Tracy@theoffice.la:121/
It asks me for the password only.
When I use Chrome I get this error:
"Your connection to this site is not private"
It asks me for the user name and the password.

What setting in FileZilla does Chrome require that Firefox doesn't?

I understand that Chrome shouldn't be used and FileZilla client should be use.
I have large files that an Attorney's need to download and they won't install the FileZilla client or Firefox.

Thank you,
Docfxit

You are using plain FTP which is insecure (everything transferred in plain readable text, including ALL login data+passwords). Chrome complains, Firefox doesn't. It's down to the implementation. Note that secure FTP (FTP over TLS) is not supported by any browser.

However, the discussion is moot, as both browser vendors have already announced the complete removal of all FTP support from their browsers. Soon, they'll not support FTP at all.
No support requests over PM! You will NOT get any reply!!!

Thank you for the reply...

Today I need to get Chrome to work with FileZilla. It's a loosing battle for me to get them to install an FTP client.
After Chrome doesn't allow them to use FTP at all with other customers maybe they will get with the times to get an FTP client.

How can I configure FileZilla server to download a file with Chrome?
I understand it must be secure.
I can't change any settings in their Chrome.

Thanks,

Browsers don't support FTP over TLS at all.

Your customers need to install a proper FTP client.
