3.48.1 file association problems still present

#1 Post by IanR » 2020-05-25 19:22

I was hoping that the latest version ( 3.48.1) would solve the file association problems.

Before the file association changes were made, my .csv files were automatically opened with EXCEL

Once the file associations were changed, it tried and failed to open with Notepad

Perhaps I am doing something wrong. In the file associations I am entering the following:

csv "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\EXCEL.EXE" %f

I have tried -open instead of %f

None of these work. Have I entered the command correctly?

On the parent page, have you checked "Use filetype associations if available"?

yes, but it was set to that anyway. The update tried (unsuccessfully) to put in a csv relationship with Notepad. I want csv file type to be associated with EXCEL (which is what was automatically used before the mod was put in to put in variable file associations). However, when I try to make the excel association, it does not work

Thanks for taking the time to investigate.

Can you tell me the exact command line you are using to launch Excel for csv files. I appreciate my path will be different, but I just want to check the format of the command line. Thanks

There seems to be a problem with the system language.
I am trying to open .pdf files with the Preview.app.
On a german system the app name is Vorschau.app.

Both
pdf "/Applications/Vorschau.app"
as well as
pdf "/Applications/Preview.app"
however result in error "Application not found".
The path to Applications is correct.

NB:
In Version 3.48.0 pdf "/Applications/Preview.app" worked

On recent macOS systems, the preview app resides in /System/Applications

For anyone viewing this thread with similar problems, the issue seems to be that, in the earlier versions of Filezilla, there was a simple tick box which said "inherit systems file type associations"

This was defaulted so it it used the computer file associations (which for .csv files was EXCEL)

In the most recent versions (3.48.1) Filezilla does not seem to use the computer's file associations. If it is not working the way you want it, rather than putting in a command line for the file association, the way I got it to work was to use the custom association and use the browse feature to find the programme you need.

I hope this helps
