Too many items in window

I recently moved my website to another server. Previously I could only see 10000 items in the filenames window. Now I can see 160000 + items. Problem is it takes a good while to read the list. Is there any way of limiting the amount of items listed?.

Organizing my files into multiple directories is probably the best idea but there being somewhere in the region of a quarter of a million links, it would take me a year or two to complete. Its not something I would look forward to taking on. If changing servers was the answer then I will have a word with my new host ans see if they can sort it out.

The new server is doing it correctly, though, servers must not limit or hide directory contents.

The spammer has been dealt with.
