45 seconds to load

Hi, my laptop, an Acer I5 with 16GB RAM and 480GB SSD, was in need of a clean up of software so I decided to re-install windows (Windows 10 PRO). Prior to this Filezilla was loading normally. After re-installing windows, I continued to install other programmes, and then the latest free version of Filezilla (3.50.0) When I first ran it after installation nothing appeared to happen, then about 45 seconds later the programme opened and worked fine. First time load issues I thought, but every time it takes 45 seconds to load.

After a little research I decided to re-install windows again, install no programmes, turn off defender firewall and anti-virus then install filezilla. Same issue. After double clicking on the shortcut Task Manager shows Filezilla using about 35% CPU time, 35Mb memory which slowly climbs to 120Mb just before the programme opens.

Any thoughts please?

That is most irregular, FileZilla shouldn't use more than 10MB of memory on a fresh install.

Which version of Windows 10 are you using? What is the source of your Windows installation media?

Hi Windows is Windows 10 Pro updates to the latest version as of today. It was installed from installation media created from the original factory install using the microsoft installation meadia creater.

When I first start to run Filezilla it uses around 28% CPU climbing to 35% (no other apps running), the memory starts out around 15MB (sorry I said Mb previously, I meant MB) climbing slowly to around 35MB, then after 30 seconds or so it goes to around 80MB then just before it actually appears on screen it goes to 125MB. Not sure if that helps or hinders?

Which directory have you installed FileZilla in?

When reinstalling Windows, did you just install it over an existing installation, or did you wipe the disk first?

Are there any additional disks in your system containing data from before you reinstalled Windows?

Filezilla is in C:\Program Files\FileZilla, I also tried installing it in C;\Filezilla with the same results.

The SSD is partitioned into 2 drives C and D. C: is the operating system and D: is purely data files. The contents od D: did not change from before the re-install of windows.

Windows was re-installed by deleting the "System Reserved" and C: partitions, then reinstalling windows.

Just a quick update. I noticed that when I hit "This PC" icon, it was slow to bring up all the drives..... about 45 seconds slow in fact.

I again created install media on my USB drive, deleted the original Windows OS partitions and re-installed.

The first programme I installed was Filezilla and it came up immediately when accessed

Guess I'll have to blame Micro$oft. Sorry for any trouble caused, and thanks for the responses
