What I meant was I put the Host name and Username/Password correctly...

Status: Resolving IP-Address for ftp.clanaos.org
Status: Connecting to 216.39.62.30:21...
Error: Could not connect to server
Status: Waiting to retry...

What could be the problem?

The URL works, so most likely you are blocked by a firewall.

I'm having this problem too!

I've disabled all firewalls on my computer, and spoken to my host twice. I'm still getting that error. Any other suggestions?

I am having the same problem. I put in my IP, login and password, it says it's connected and then gives an error message.

It says connection established, waiting for welcome message...then it has authenication error and then "could not connect to server"

I am all ears and anxiously waiting how to resolve this. This is the second FTP client I have tried. The other one I used gave me the same answer. FlashFXP was the same thing.

Please help

thank you,
Karen

Try FlashFXP.

It wont work within the network in the company or university. The router and the firewall block it.

I used a previous version where I could manually type in the proxy setting and it worked fine. I donot see the same screen here (or same settings). I am missing something?

This is what I get:

Status: Waiting to retry...
Status: Resolving IP-Address for <domain name here>
Status: Connecting to <IP here>:21...
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Error: Could not connect to server

then it keeps trying again and again...

@post #5 and #6

Run the Network Configuration Wizard. Does it succeed?

Wow, instead of helping, you were just a jerk. Nicely done. That's what I call support.

Hi There.
I have been trying for a few days to get filezilla connected to my Rapidshare account with absolutely no success.
I havee googled and googled, forwarded ports 21,22, 6000-7000, allowed access through firewalls, set my static ip as DMZ,
uninstalled AVG Firewall, disabled windows firewall but still can not connect. Have also just tried quick connect as anonymous.

So heres quick rundown of what Im doing and messages Im getting.

Net Config Wizard:
Have tried Active and Passive modes, have ticked allow fallback to other transfer mode on failure.
Have set my external ip for active mode and also tried get from url: http://ip.filezilla-project.org/ip.php
use port range 6000 - 7000

Test Results:

Connecting to probe.filezilla-project.org
Response: 220 FZ router and firewall tester ready
USER FileZilla
Response: 331 Give any password.
PASS 3.5.3
Response: 230 logged on.
Checking for correct external IP address
Retrieving external IP address from http://ip.filezilla-project.org/ip.php
Checking for correct external IP address
IP 110.174.174.242 bba-bhe-bhe-cec
Response: 200 OK
PREP 6191
Response: 200 Using port 6191, data token 1913205588
PORT 110,174,174,242,24,47
Response: 200 PORT command successful
LIST
Response: 150 opening data connection
Response: 200 Successful
QUIT
Response: 200 goodbye!
Connection closed

To me that says success....

Now in Site Manager:
New Site: Rapidshare
Host: rapidshare.com
Port: 21 (even though it goes blank again by itself)
Protocol: FTP
Encryption: Use Plain FTP
Logon Type: Normal
User: <rapidshare login name>
Password: <rapidshare login password>

message when trying to connect:

Status: Resolving address of rapidshare.com
Status: Connecting to 80.239.151.15:21...
Error: Connection timed out

There simply is no server at that address. If there should be, contact your server administrator or server hosting provider for assistance.

Hi,

Hoping someone can PLEASE help me out.........

I am having the same problem, Could not connect to server

I downloaded FileZilla Server version 0.9.41 and FileZilla Client version 3.5.3

I unblocked my firewall, I'm still unable to connect to server

I have tried the troubleshooting to add FileZilla to my firewall,

I have tired both passive and active mode, I've entered the correct IP address

Done all the above and still I can not connect to server.

As a mentioned before, I unblocked the firewall so I am not sure what is keeping the server from connecting.

I ran the wizard configuration and this is what I get.

Connecting to probe.filezilla-project.org
Response: 220 FZ router and firewall tester ready
USER FileZilla
Response: 331 Give any password.
PASS 3.5.3
Response: 230 logged on.
Checking for correct external IP address
IP xx.xxx.xxx.xxx hb-caj-bej-bec
Response: 200 OK
PREP 49636
Response: 200 Using port 49636, data token 763165258
PORT 71,209,149,142,193,228
Response: 200 PORT command successful
LIST
Response: 150 opening data connection
Response: 503 Failure of data connection.
Server sent unexpected reply.
Connection closed

Any help from anyone would greatly be appreciated.

Thank you all so kindly

Minrey

We need more details. What do you try to accomplish exactly? Are the server and client in the same LAN?
