Perhaps outgoing ports blocked?

all settings in the local security settings on the lan are windows defualt, both filezilla and filezilla server are in the windows firewall exceptin list and the windows firewall is disabled. i can't find anything on campus that would be blocking ftp transfers.

or any ports

ok, here we are, back to filezilla client.

this issue is not with my router, or anything else.

while troubleshooting the linksys engineer and i ran smartftp client, connected with no issues whatsoever.

so we are back to filezilla client not connecting (please see above for troubleshooting this)

wiki page is useless for helping me resolve this issue.....also, it should be ports 20 & 21 forwarded, not 20 or 21.

please, lets get this worked out, if you need specific info, its probably above, can't find it? i'll repost it no problem

PS, i have a screenshot of the smartftp client connected if you want it

smartftp will connect to Lucas Arts' ftp site with no issues, just finished downloading a video at 200+KB/s

filezilla will not connect, here is the response:

filezilla just hangs here for a min, then you get:

17:28:53 Trace: CRealControlSocket::OnClose(10053)
17:28:53 Error: Disconnected from server: ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted

17:28:53 Trace: CControlSocket::ResetOperation(66)
17:28:53 Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing

i am convinced this is some sort of filezilla client setting issue since smartftp is able to connect no issues, out of the box with no adjustments.

Here is the connection with smartftp:

so this is an issue with filezilla client settings, yes? agreed?

You should try using Passive mode.

alrighty then, now i'm connected....the question remains, why didn't passive work on my first try?

here are the only differences in my settings from before this fiasco, and now fully functional...

updated filezilla client from 3.0.1 (i think) to 3.1.0
added forwarding port 20 to the port forward controls

that's it.

The wizard is testing Active mode. If it fails, it does not neccessarily mean that FTP won't work, it just means it is not guaranteed to work. Btw, mine fails, too.
