Uploading website

I took my old file down and replaced it with an updated file.
Firstly when I transferred the files over, then I had 3 websites, all the same, none of them updated.

Now I deleted all. Put the new file up, transferred over the index.htm.txt and still the website won't display.

Any ideas as to the reason?
