custom welcome message spacing issues
i have tried:
notepad
wordpad
notetab light
word 2003
no matter what i get a spacing change when i cut and paste to the welcome message, and yes i have checked for the '%' to make sure its not the issue.
makes ascii art rather difficult to fix, especially since it doesn't seem to be consistent from line to line.
any ideas, suggestions??? please not another editor lol
why does it look different in the client than it does the server???? that is perplexing to me.

Re: custom welcome message spacing issues
Totally depends on the font a client uses to render the messages from the server.
Do yourself a favor and refrain from using useless ASCII art. Be creative and use a poem instead, independent of used font spacing

Re: custom welcome message spacing issues
i went with a quote instead of poem, any suggestions on fonts that are "more" compatible with the server interface?
Re: custom welcome message spacing issues
All fonts are perfectly compatible.
Re: custom welcome message spacing issues
ASCII art always breaks with dynamic-width fonts. As every client decides itself what font it wants to use this won't work.
It worked great in the old BBS days, when Telnet was used, as it had a fixed-width font.

Re: custom welcome message spacing issues
thank you so very much for saving me from tying my upteenth font lol.
is there any way to limit the damage done if i only concern myself with fzs & fzc software?
i'm thinking no since there's a difference in the way each displays the same fonts.

Re: custom welcome message spacing issues
fzc uses the system font, and that varies depending on platform and user's system settings.
In other words, don't try to misuse a system intended to convey textual information to represent images.

Re: custom welcome message spacing issues
AFAIK Windows XP's system default font is Tahoma, and Vista's is Segoie UI. Both dynamic-width fonts. For ASCII art under Windows, the Terminal font is usually used.
