Protocol error: Unknown protocol identifier (0x50 0x50 0x48)

Hi, When I try and connect to the server I get this message:

Connecting to server...
Connected, waiting for authentication
Protocol error: Unknown protocol identifier (0x50 0x50 0x48). Most likely connected to the wrong port.
Connection to server closed.
Trying to reconnect in 5 seconds
Reconnecting to server...
Connected, waiting for authentication
Protocol error: Unknown protocol identifier (0x50 0x50 0x48). Most likely connected to the wrong port.
Connection to server closed.

People have asked this question a few times before, but none of the answers for them have worked for me. Running xampp-portcheck.exe tells me that my ftp port is 21 and my admin port is 14147. On the 'connect to server' window I've tried setting the port to 21, which gives me the message above, and also to 14147, which gives me this message:

Connecting to server...
Trying to reconnect in 5 seconds
Error: Connection to server lost...
Reconnecting to server...
Trying to reconnect in 5 seconds
Error: Connection to server lost...

Any ideas please?!

Firewall?

I tried turning off the firewall, but I get the same message. I've been trying to connect to a remote server, but even if I put 127.0.0.1 in the server address box, it still gives me the same message.

What else could it be?! I've pretty much reached my new idea threshold on this one.

Okay, the good news is I've managed to logon to my localhost... I didn't realise you had to use 14147 for that! But I still can't access a remote server...

You need to explicitly allow remote administration before you can use it.

Additionally, you have to define a password or RA will not work.
