530 Login incorrect

Hi

I am trying to get Filezilla to work but when I log in I get the following. It looks as if all the passwords etc are correct but there is something stopping it

Any help please as I cant upload any files now as my provider has changed to this new system and I cant use it

Good chance they have screwed up, have you contacted them yet?

How do you come to this conclusion? The log says 'Login incorrect'. That means username and/or password not accepted. The initial acception of the username is intentional, it will even accept an invalid one (so you can't probe for valid usernames).

I am sure the password etc are correct as I had an email from them telling me what to type in where. I just copied and pasted

Therefore I am sure its not that side of things

As to the possibility of the provider screwing up - I can buy into that. Their helpline was useless. It was semi automated and always gave the same replay despite me going back several times. Also, it would automatically say the problem was resolved if I didnt get back to them with 2 days. Sometimes I have been away and thats a great inconvenience

I have the same problem. I cannot use filezilla cuteftp or even dreamweaver. I know for a fact I have the correct user name and password, for I can go on line directly and access my account through IX webhosting. I am also handling 2 other websites and cannot access them either through either of the above programs. I get the 530 cannot login in message. I have done some research and beleive there is a setting on my computer. Here are the sites that I looked at, but I still cannot figure out how to correct this. I have been able to use these programs in the past, but something must have changed. I am thinking it might have to do with microsoft, but not sure.

You should check your webhosting settings. Often FTP access must be enabled first, and FTP login data may not be the same as the webhost login data.
