I am brand new to this forum and probably wouldn't be here except I have tried everything to get my laptop computer connected to filezilla server to include talking to the Linksys support and Cox (ISP) support of which neither of the two can help me. The linksys say it is the modem and then Cox says it has nothing to do with my end that it has to do with the filezilla end of the deal....I have fixed my window's 7 firewall, the router filre wall, and I even disconnected the modem from the router and connected the laptop straight to the modem.....which the linksys support told me that if I can't connect through the modem...I definately won't connect going through the router....I have tried every kind of combination to use with the configuration wizard as well......below is a print of what I am getting being connected straight to the modem (passive w/filezilla configuration)....if I can't get this working does anyone know of another free FTP software that might work for me?

The log you posted is from the network connection wizard of FileZilla. This test always checks Active mode only. It completes successfully, so you should have no problems at all to connect to any server. Note that Passive mode does not require ANY configuration on your side except allowing FileZilla to make outgoing connections.
You should post a log from the connection attempt to the actual server. As you're using Passive, the problem will very likely be at the server end.

boco,
You give the same BS answers to everyone. I can access all but one of my sites and that one I keep getting:
530 Login authentication failed
Error: Critical error
Error: Could not connect to server
I know the password is correct because I'm copying from when I just now changed.

Correct, because there isn't any other answer. Without a log, it's basically guessing game, and I have neither the time nor the intention to poke around in the dark.boco,

As for the 530 Login auth failed error, that one cannot be solved by us. As I tried to explain numerous time, FileZilla sends exactly what you enter, to the server address you provided. As soon as the data has left FileZilla, we have no influence on it anymore. If a firewall or proxy decides to corrupt your login data (usually happens with very unusual characters like @ or &, on plain FTP connections), you can only find out with a network sniffer (like Wireshark).
I used to get 530 errors with copied passwords, too, and it always was a trailing whitespace at the end that was copied across. As the password is usually obscured by dots or asterisks, it's not easy to detect that.I know the password is correct because I'm copying from when I just now changed.

Still wouldn't work when typed in manually. Other sites work fine, not that one, whether copied or put in manually.

In fact, I just changed the password in WP and re-typed that same password into Filezilla with the same response. You will, of course, blame Word Press.

Re: Pls, I am new, I have tried everything to connect and ca
Could that be your problem? Unless there is something I don't know about Word Press, it is not an ftp server. You do not use your Word Press login info to connect to your ftp server which means that changing your Word Press password has no effect on your ftp login. You need to setup an ftp account through your hosting provider, possibly through their CPanel interface.BuddyT wrote:In fact, I just changed the password in WP and re-typed that same password into Filezilla with the same response. Good point. FTP has nothing to do with WP.
