Hi

i config Filezilla server in passive mode . it working from out of my network using static ip but only work in Google chorme and also work in IE after unchecked "Use Passive FTP(for firewall and DSL modem ) in internet option.

if try to use ftp from firefox shows Error "425 Can't open data connection"
and also from safari cannot work

Any solution

So you did closely follow the Network Configuration guide?

so i need to setup server in Active mode . can i post all settings of router firewall ,

No. An FTP server cannot be configured for Active mode. You need to configure it for Passive. Active mode would have to be configured at the client, but I can tell you Firefox can't do this.

So tell you FTP server its current external IP, then define and port-forward a range of ports for Passive data connections.

please see these settings

use custom port range 5000 - 5100 i used

mark on use the following IP





i can browse with these settings usinf external ip outside of my lan network bowser gogle chorem and IE .
Do you mean there no solution to browse FTP in Firefox.

i can browse file in mozila also now but not in safari may be need some settings .

First: With a proper Passive configuration, all standards-compliant clients will work, there's no magic involved. However, browsers are not amongst them. How a browser supports FTP is totally up to the developers, and unfortunately creativity is in full bloom here. Some browsers like Firefox use Passive (PASV) mode, AFAIK Opera even uses Extended Passive (EPSV). IE has a setting for Active (PORT) vs. Passive mode, with old versions defaulting to Active and recent to Passive. A real mess.

Just remember: You as server administrator care for Passive mode, the client must care for Active.
