530 user 'Name' cannot log in
Hi,
I'm having some issues...
-I've Installed the filezilla server software on my server and have setup an account and password
-When I go to my browser and type in ftp:\\external_ip_address, a prompt appears asking me for my User Name and Password
-When I enter these details, I get the following error...
530 User 'Name' cannot log in
I have port forwarded Port 21 in my router to the local ip address of my server, but I'm not winning...
Does anyone have any advice at all?

You seem to have that crappy IIS FTP server still active on the system. So you're not connecting to FileZilla Server at all so far. You must get rid of the IIS FTP.

Ok, so we've established that I have IIS FTP. What should be noted is that I have had this working before, so if someone can please instruct me on how to get it working again, I'd be grateful.

What precisely do you want to get working?
To get FileZilla Server working, get rid of IIS FTP. To get IIS working, contact Microsoft.

This is the way I would have explained it....
Hi, it sound like your IIS FTP may be the problem and not the filezilla server software. You'll need to contact microsoft if you want this resolved.
Focus on supporting people by assuming they don't know all of the ins and outs of the issue at hand. That is of course the very definition of a support forum.

The decision you have to make is: If you want to keep the IIS FTPd, you don't need FileZilla Server. If you want to use FileZilla Server, get rid of the IIS FTPd. Two FTP services on one machine usually aren't needed. Personally I'd prefer anything over IIS.
