I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong. I've looked around this forum to find the answer but still no luck. i have allowed filezilla to pass through my firewall. i suspect my problem is in port forwarding. i have allowed port forwarding (incoming and outgoing) for tcp 21, tcp 990 and tcp 5000-5100.. is this correct? are there more ports to forward? also, by "port forwarding" i mean i allow incoming and outgoing rules through my firewall security advanced settings. is this correct? i am also using windows 7 and am connecting through a wifi connection from home.
all help is greatly appreciated from this lil noobster!

Re: Error: Could not connect to server
Looks like the server doesn't accept your login data. It is only strange that it's disconnecting you instead of returning the usual 530 error.
Please note that tough forwarding data ports at the client side is required for Active mode and the test to work, your port forwards are for the server, which you don't use actually. Please remove the 21 and 990 forwardings, and enter the data port range into your client (Settings... - Connection - FTP - Active mode) along with your external IP. Otherwise the client won't use them (in the test you posted it tried 50827 which is not inside your range).

Re: Error: Could not connect to server
Thank you Boco! I've contacted my host to verify log in information and it appears that my IP addresses were not matching. I will work on this issue and report back when I have successfully logged into Filezilla.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
Re: Error: Could not connect to server

Response: 200 Type set to I.
Command: PORT 97,74,215,201,19,142

Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing
And when I do perform a network configuration wizard, i get the following:

USER FileZilla
Response: 331 Give any password.
PASS 3.5.3
Response: 230 logged on.

Response: 510 Mismatch. Your IP is 76.110.140.189, hg-bba-bea-bij
Wrong external IP address
Connection closed
I'm not sure what the problem is. One rep from my hosting provider mentioned my IPs didnt match because my site was being forwarded to my wordpress url but I changed this so that it does not forward and still no luck. I just got off the phone with another rep from my hosting provider and they said it might be filezilla and suggested I use the java FTP from off their site but I dont want to give up on filezilla, i want to make it work. i just cant figure out the problem.

Re: Error: Could not connect to server
Hey, just wanted to report back that i figured it out! although i had it set to passive mode in the network configuration wizard, in my site manager settings (file > site manager > transfer settings) i had it set to active instead of passive by mistake. so i switched it and just like that it worked.
Re: Error: Could not connect to server
Yes, the network wizard only sets the global connection mode. The global setting applies to QuickConnect and to Sitemanager entries with connection mode set to ''Default''. Selecting ''Passive'' or ''Active'' in the Site Manager works as override.
