0.9.37 - Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library: Runtime Error

#1 Post by mikeaoller » 2010-11-29 19:30

..in FileZilla Server.exe.

This happens whenever more than 6 connections to the server occur.

Using XP Pro SP3 completely patched with no software on the system except FileZilla Server and Client.

If the error dialogue occurs, some of the current connections "freeze" (columns "PROGRESS" and "SPEED").

If the OK-button is clicked, the service crashes and needs to be restarted via services.msc; of course the current connections are disconnected.

A reinstallation of the server didn't solve the problem; the phrase "runtime error" didn't bring up any relevant results.

Please help, I'd very like to have a stable server.

Odd, I'm not aware of any problems that could cause this. Are you using any firewalls or other so-called security solutions?

Also, please ensure that you are using the latest drivers for your hardware, in particular network drivers and chipset.

Hi,

thank you for this 1st answer. As I said I'm not using any other software on the system than FileZilla*; which means no FW, no AV. XP runs on a VM on ESX 4.1, of course with latest drivers.

Does it also happen if running on the bare metal?

Hey, I've got no intention to run it on bare metal. It worked no trouble for over a year now. And suddenly, without any changes to the system (except f****g Windowsupdate), it doesn't any more. And a re-installation doesn't change a thing. Just thought you had a clue what the cause could be...

Gonna install it on another clone of the empty XP-VM and report back later...

Interesting. Can you selectively uninstall the last few updates Microsoft imposed upon you to figure out which update started the problems?

I don't think an MS-Patch is responsible...this would have been the 1st time (as far as I heard) that an MS-Patch killed a 3rd party application. And above that: I'm sure I'm not the only one running FZ Server on XP Pro that applies all MS-Patches. If the problem was caused by an MS-Patch, other people would experience the same problem.

I moved FZ Server to a W2K8 VM and will report about its stability there tomorrow.
