I'm trying to connect to a website recently uploaded to 1&1 using filezilla, so that I can edit it, but keep receiving the message
GnuTLS error -15: An unexpected TLS packet was received.
Error: Could not connect to server
My computer was protected by Kaspersky 13, and 1&1 has said they think the problem is caused by my firewall. I have uninstalled Kaspersky but still get the same message. I have now installed Kapsersky 14. I have added Filezilla as a trusted site and instructed it not to scan traffic to port 21, but am still getting the same message.I've tried to connect from my laptop and again failed, but the message this time was Connection timed out.failed to connect.
I looked at the network configuration article on wiki before installing Filezilla, and followed it to the best of my ability, but I'm a complete novice regarding such issues so should be grateful if any advice used simple terms to tell me what I should do. Thanks.

You did select FTPS (Implicit) Encryption. However, the server doesn't seem to support FTPES or FTPS. Try with plain FTP.

The specific error message occurred because you forced FTPS Implicit on a port not supporting it. FileZilla even warned you:

Thanks for your help -as I said I am a complete novice regarding network configuration and, although I read the network configuration in wiki I obviously didn't understand it sufficiently to follow it correctly. Unfortunately, my husband, who looked after the technical aspects of the website, although I had always worked with him on the content, died as the result of an accident last year - Hence my request for help. I have been trying to keep the website we worked on up to date by redesigning it, but it seems I encountered problems when instructions from filezilla were in conflict with instructions from the hosting company re. the port I should use.
The problem seems to have been resolved by the hosting company as I have now managed to connect after sending them details of the problem, so hopefully I will not need to bother you with my irritating problems again.
