PUS = Potentially Unwanted Software

The AV doesn't like the Adware in the SourceForge installer. Try this link.

It is because wrapped inside the downloader are files that will install shit software like Mysearchdial and searchdial both very well known spammers...your system will become congested like a mad dog and then you cannot use it anymore....

I just switched to dropbox and will no longer use filezilla ever!

There used to be a page to get an installer without the adware. Now all links redirect to the adware installer only.

Since my AV doesn't allow it under any circumstance I'm leaving FileZilla for WinSCP.

All offers displayed by the SourceForge Installer are marked as such and can easily be declined. Declining offers does in no way prevent or otherwise disturb installation of FileZilla. If you do not wish to use the SourceForge Installer, have a look at the additional download options.

It's not that you, Filezilla, are trying to push other software through your downloader. That's cool. You gotta make a buck when you can. It's that your SourceForge downloader (the 700kb file) is flagged by multiple virus databases as being a trojan and malware. I just had to have my corporate PC reimaged because they found the SourceForge downloader on it and it tripped a few red flags. I've trusted filezilla for years, but this is looking shady as hell.

From now on I'll be using WinSCP.

Um. Yes he is. For instance, bottom of the page here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=31967&start=75

At the expense of potentially reformatting your box depending on the degree of infection? The line between acceptable and bad advertising was somewhere way back there.

Because the installer selects 3 malwares to be offered which can admittedly be declined if you know to hit ONLY the decline button (confusion comes when optimizer pro comes up and tries to pass itself off as Filezilla's EULA. To the uninitiated, that is where things go downhill. )
From now on I'll be using WinSCP.
Good man.

I unfortunately have fallen for the EULA-Trick of Optimizer PRO. I am utterly disappointed having downloaded earlier Filezilla Versions and used them without any problems I would never have expected malware bundled with it and disguised in the way it was.

I didn't go further when the first window popped up.
Instead I searched and found this topic.

Ran the uninstaller. Hope, it is solved... :|

Or just download Kaspersky VIrus Removal tool from their site. It comes with the latest virus definitions and designed to run ones, then it will ask to remove itself. Does pretty good job at detecting and cleaning, as well as cleaning after itself.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware also does a pretty good job at cleaning up the junk that the installer may dump onto your pc.
