My avast anti virus will not let the update install ... identifies malware and stops it cold ... ???

Win32:Evo-gen [Susp] is a perilous type of virus that opens a backdoor on the infected computer.Threats are secretly downloaded by Win32:Evo-gen [Susp] from web, FTP servers, and private computer, then installs and execute it.

Definitely a false positive. Note the Susp in the description, it means it's a wild guess.

Please contact your AV vendor to report this false positive.

the comments i posted were from another anti virus site and all the information i can gather says this is a bad ass virus ... and they all have the (SUSP) included ??


I've used filezilla for several years and never had an issue until this upgrade ?

You might want to ask additional virus scanners for a second or third opinion.

That was avast and the problem is already solved it seems (false positive).

Please lemme break that Evo-Gen[Susp] down for you. That is a message from the Heuristics Engine (Gen = Generic) and the file is treated as being suspicious (SUSP). In other words, there is no evidence the file is infected.
The reason why you won't find any good info about that Evo-Gen is simple: It doesn't describe a definite infection. You could translate it to 'Unknown, be careful'. Evo-Gen has a high False Positive rate.

Please note that I got this, too, and do frequently for certain files. In my case, it is a 100% False Positive ratio so far.

Check the files with VirusTotal and Jotti Scan (please search as I can't link them). And don't panic. Major damage has been done by users blindly trusting their AVs.

it's working without the update and will continue to do so without the risk to my computer

Unless any security vulnerability is discovered, it will work without risk. However, you won't get any support for outdated versions.
