ERROR UPON OPENING PROGRAM

#1 Post by gjsmoyer » 2017-10-06 00:15

When I initially open FileZilla I get a popup that says: An error occurred loading the transfer queue from “C:\Users\GreggSmoyer\AppData\Roaming\FileZilla\dqueue.sqlite3”. Some queue items might not have been restored.

The program then opens and appears to function properly.

However, when I try to download the latest version, it only gets halfway through the installation and then the program stops running and Windows closes it.

Suggestions?

Why does Windows close the installer?

'Don't know.

Dialog box pops up, says:

FileZilla FTP Client has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Open the Event Viewer. The entry for the APPCRASH will be logged in the Application log. If you did find it, what is the name of the "Crashed Module"?

Are you using any third-party software that is well-known to interfere with other programs such as virus scanners and firewalls? What happens if you completely uninstall those for a test?

Am using McAfee. Shut off real time scan and firewall. Still did not install. Other programs install normally. Could it have something to do with this error message? An error occurred loading the transfer queue from “C:\Users\GreggSmoyer\AppData\Roaming\FileZilla\dqueue.sqlite3”. Some queue items might not have been restored.

Should I completely uninstall FileZilla and try to install the latest version?

The message about the queue is a completely different error that has nothing to do with the installer. Your stored queue has become damaged. Try deleting the file if you do not mind losing any remaining queue contents.

Problem solved. Deleted previous version of FileZilla, downloaded new version. Everything seems OK. Thanks for assistance.

Greetings:

This solution requires a bit more than uninstall/reinstall.

(1) Something has damaged one of the filesin the folder "...C:\Users\...\AppData\Roaming\FileZilla".
(2) Reinstall, Uninstall, Repair does not change or delete the damaged file(s) in this folder!
WARNING: uninstalling the software DOES NOT delete/remove this folder, so the rename step (below) is required

Not sure what exactly caused the problem...
Could have been improper shutdown with task manager, or could have been a manually aborted update while filezilla was running.

This Solution worked for me:

(0) Win7 (windows explorer) or Win10 (file manager) to the "...AppData\Roaming\FileZilla" folder
(1) rename the FileZilla folder to something to link oldFileZilla
(you probably don't have to reinstall or repair the software, but you can if you want to)
(2) launch filezilla.exe
(3) filezilla will create a "FileZilla" new folder in the "Roaming" folder , but without your bookmarks and site structure
(4) close filezilla.exe
(5) go to the renamed folder and copy the following 3 files to the new folder
(a) bookmarks.xml
(b) filezilla.xml
(c) sitemanager.xml
(I had a LOT of bookmarks and a special structure and passwords that I did not want to have to re-create)
(6) launch filezilla.exe again
(7) once you log in you will have to re-validate your security certificate
(8) you should be able to launch filezilla.exe without getting this error message...

Later...collinspe
